On the 14th of March 2014 we had the pleasure of meeting his Excellency Mike Eman, the current Prime Minster of Aruba. During this meeting we had the opportunity to present The Aruba Reusable Shopping Bag.
Creating Sustainable Happiness
His Excellency Mike Eman is a man on a great mission.
Aruba has five-star hotels, but we want to see five-star schools, five-star neighborhoods, five-star infrastructure and five-star homes for the elderly,” “It is my ambition to see that we manage to turn our continued material prosperity into wellbeing and happiness for every Aruban — M. Eman.
In 2020, Aruba aims to be a fully sustainable, self-sufficient society and to become the first fully sustainable country on earth.
Mike Eman himself outlined this ambitious plan in more detail during the TEDxBinnenhof 2014 in the Ridderzaal on March 31st.
Our contribution to achieve sustainable tourism
We applaud mr. Mike Eman’s vision.
On all levels of the Aruban society and in every sector of the economy sustainable initiatives have to be taken to make this ambition a reality.
This also applies to the tourism sector which accounts for 70% of Aruba’s GDP.
Our mission is to contribute to the greening of Aruba’s tourism sector by developing and offering beautiful, useful, durable and sustainable souvenirs/ products. Or as Mike would probably say, five-star products 😉
“A journey of a thousand miles starts with one little step” – Chinese proverb
With this knowledge in mind we developed The Aruba Reusable Shopping Bag and brought it to market.
This is our first little step.
